I loooved this and also recently realized I've started taking for granted so much of the beauty of Austin that I loved so much when I first moved here. The other day I went for a walk with no headphones, no company, just to look at all the cacti and beautiful desert-y flowers here and reconnect to that sense of wonder. This essay is such a great reminder to not fall into that rut and shift the perspective when things start to feel mundane 🫶

Alsoooo I did finally read the wedding people, I can't remember if I've mentioned it to you??

Thank you Courtney, I’m glad it resonated! Your walk sounds wonderful. Spring truly is the best time of the year to go walking 🌷

And no you didn’t mention that! What’d you think?

It really is! One of my best friends is moving to Portland at the end of the year so next spring I'll have to come visit and experience the magic there too 🫶

I reallllly really loved it, like one of my favorite books I've read this year so far. I thought she really balanced lightness and fun with darkness and personal growth so well, which is not always a blend you can find in a book I feel. I still find myself thinking about some of the characters and what they all went through which is a sign of a great book imo

Oh that sounds familiar, you must've mentioned that before! Definitely let me know if/when you do come to PDX :)

And yay, I'm so glad to hear that! Definitely agree on the balance of light + dark.

A rabbit. Definitely Mr. Rabbit.

We've talked about this before, how sad it can be when trees come down, but I'm so glad that the absence of your neighbor's tree has opened things up in a new way. I see a rabbit in that evergreen too! I also love spotting hummingbirds, seeing them always feels so special.

To your question about the Alison Espach book, I haven't read it but I would like to since I loved The Wedding People so much. If I do end up giving it a read, I will report back!

A hummingbird flew right by me when I was journaling on our retreat! It always feels so special ☺️

Interestingly enough, I watched a documentary about hummingbirds yesterday. They know exactly where they’ve been, even if a plant has 1000s of flowers on it. They definitely know us and our feeders! Let me know if you want the link the the doc 😊

Ahh I love that! Yes, what's the doc? I watched one my dad sent me years ago but can't remember what it is lol.
