Ahhh, this is such an interesting topic that I desperately want to discuss from a multitude of angles 😆.
My overriding position is simply that your CDG pair is heaven! So chic!
On the other end of the spectrum, I feel the exact same way about dad sneakers and yet, with travel and baggage restrictions and being in the back half of my 30s, I’m trying to do a dad sneaker/supportive shoe pivot. I just got some Asics that I really like and even if I’m not certain I’ll wear them with a dress/skirt, I’ve been wearing them with linen pants and jeans.
All of which brings me to the bigger question/topic: why is dressing/styling myself in this phase of life so awkward??? Would love your input, Morganne! xx
Thanks so much for reading & sharing your thoughts, Aoife!
Appreciate the compliment - CDG is hard to resist. 😉 So much so that I bought a top on consignment even though the fit is a smidge off, because it was such a good deal! ha.
That makes a lot of sense about wanting shoes for comfort. I feel that more these days, too. My most comfortable "fashion" tennis shoes (as opposed to ones for working out) are the ones that have more cushion in them versus the flat-foot ones, even though I like the more minimal look. Le sigh.
Ooh I want to see the Asics! I wore sneakers with a long maxi dress to a dinner last night which was a first for me, pairing a casual shoe with a fancier dress. I'll bet your shoes are so cute with linen pants!
And bah, that is the million dollar question. I'm honestly struggling with my style myself. Maybe it has something to do with not caring about trends as much as we did in our 20s? Craving more comfort or something? I still think a lot of mine is working for a sneaker giant...I'm easily influenced by what I see around me. Yet when I travel abroad I'm so inspired and like, omg I need to reinvent my entire wardrobe to look casual but CHIC!
I totally agree about dad shoes being ugly! I find it hilarious how prevalent they are among otherwise fashionable influencers. Also, I'm curious how Nike feels about New Balance being the most popular dad shoe? 😅
Great article. I laughed out loud several times. You have to ask your mom and dad about the fight when your dad tried to where his 70's disco shirt out in public with your mom on a date. It was epic! So was the shirt. Snort!!!

Glad it’s not just me! Sometimes feels like I’m the only one, at Nike anyway haha. And yes, we clearly have some competition 😆

Hahah I’ve never heard of this before - I will definitely ask them! Thanks for reading, Karen 🙂
