Love your description in this post, as a reader, it feels like I’m there! It sounds like a lovely trip so far (and good on you for making time to write during it) - it feels like there’s another post idea here about your Iceland trip!
I’m so intrigued by the Scandinavian embrace of cold weather and a hygge lifestyle—a lot to learn from them! I’m also a wing-it, loose-itinerary traveler and agree you sometimes have a few misses as a result, but you also stumble into those gems too. The art of discovery can totally get lost these days.
PS for some reason, I haven’t been getting notifications from tagged posts so stumbled upon your mention while reading! I love that you were able to chat travel intentions with your partner. 😊
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts, Teresa! :) It seems, from reading some of your travel posts, that you do a lot more trip research and planning than myself lol so I appreciate hearing that you also like a loose itinerary.
And, I'm a Substack noob who just figured out how to properly tag people - you should have a mention now! 😊
Nice 😊 I have been down on Airbnb these days only because in europe I’ve found them to be more expensive than hotels and you cant leave your bags in most cases. Glad you found some good ones!
We lucked out with early check-in at both! But yes, totally feel you on that. It seems Airbnb is no longer a “deal” like it used to be so it’s worth checking both—I’ll remember that tip for my next trip. Thanks for reading!

Aw thanks—you always have such thoughtful comments. I appreciate it ☺️
And hmm, I hadn’t thought that about Iceland but now you’ve got me thinking!

Good read 😊 I think an open mind goes a long ways when traveling! And that guy in the doorway fits right in! Is he European?😂
